O Valley of Kashmir

"The city of God and the kingdom of heaven had once the place of supreme bliss. It is said that time heals all the wounds but for Kashmir miseries increased with each passing day. Each moment realizes them the value of freedom and hence their resolve to use the right of self determination as promised by the UN Security Council. Where millions of people sacrificed their lives in the freedom movement and during partition and many accomplished the dream of their homeland, Kashmiris’ march to the destination Pakistan seems far from over.

Occupier Vs owner

There is a huge difference between occupier and owner. If India is called the biggest democracy in the world then why Kashmir has been under curfew? Why the international community seems reluctant to resolve the conflict? Why as an individual we are unable to express our concern across them? Why our political leadership has set different priorities? Why sit-ins and protest marches are easy but talking about Kashmir is difficult?

Need of the Hour

It is need of the hour for our leaders like Imran Khan to put their differences away and use their influence in the right direction. It seems a childish behavior; unless a kid won’t get his favorite toy he won’t do anything else. Our Quaid Muhammad Ali Jinnah faced discrimination while partition, why he didn’t fight for it? Why he called for a dharna against British biased partition? He gave lessons to his Nation to work, work and only work. A shortcut seems easy but the real courage is to fight with the system while staying in the same structure.

International Humanitarian law and Kashmir

International Humanitarian Law says that war must be fought within a certain legal framework and should be limited. All those weapons are prohibited that escalate unnecessary suffering. Uses of pellet guns in Kashmir are inhuman and unacceptable. Indian occupation forces in Kashmir have blinded over a thousand Kashmiri Muslims with the pellet guns and enjoying the impunity. Hundreds of them are as young as 3-4 years old. All the victims of Indian brutalities with eye injuries will live in the dark for the rest of their lives. Their parents and other family members will also live through this misery as long as they live. In many parts of India there have been agitation but pellet guns were never used against civilians. Then why Kashmiris? Because, they are Muslims! It is a shame while Kashmiri Muslims are slaughtered by the Hindu terrorists, Muslim countries apathetically nurturing economic relations with terror sponsoring state of India, deliberately or unwittingly, realizing that how India uses the money earned from the Muslim states to shed Kashmiri Muslims’ blood.

There have been tens of thousands of cases of disappearances, rapes, torture, injuries and mass killings according to International Committee of Red Cross. The least these Muslim states can do is to boycott India economically, if they can’t downgrade their diplomatic relations.

Global Response and Kashmir

It is mind boggling to see the silence that universal protectors of human rights namely; the UN, the US, the UK and the European countries in the face of the genocide of Kashmiri Muslims in Indian occupied Kashmir at the hands of Indian forces. Their double standards stood exposed as for they have proved that economic gains are higher in value than the human lives, especially the lives of Muslims. The Government of Pakistan should also question all those western countries and UN on their discrimination towards tackling a humanitarian issue as we have always witness UN and western countries bashing others for human right violations. Now this is the time for UN to give Kashmir a center stage when all the Muslims around the world are expressing their concern.
