The first time I read about shams of Tabriz from Forty rules of Love. I found him very interesting personality. Now I am reading Me and Rumi an Autobiography of Shamz of Tabrizi. I just discovered my inclination towards philosophy first time after reading Me and Rumi. A dervish lives an usual life in an unusual way and that’s what makes them special.
The whole book is full of wisdom but I’m sharing few speech marks that touched me from Me AND Rumi:
The one who knows his soul, Knows his lord.
God says: Neither my heaven nor my My earth embrace Me, but the heart of My Believing servant does embrace Me.
One must have the breaking of heart. When the light of the Real takes you to the Real, then you will see the light of the Majesty.
Keep yourself new so you won’t deserve to be addressed by Visit at intervals.
This world is the prison of the believer. Some escapes from the prison and what a pity you weep for them.
If you must cover yourself with dust
Then take dust from the greatest of dunes
I complained to a leader about the weakness of my memory, and he indicated to me that I should abandon sins
Which means to abandon existence.
Surely Knowledge is a bounty from God,
And God’s bounty is not given to the sinner.
I consider it an excellent book that unveil hearts, connect you to your creator and reveal a world full of love and friendship.
